October 10, 2008 Tomorrow, Winegard Elementary PTA will be joining with the PTA/PTSAs from Pine Castle Elementary, Walker Middle, and Oak Ridge High Schools to hold a member registration event at Pine Castle Pioneer Days. Pioneer Days is the largest celebration in our community and will have activities for children and adults alike. Admission to Pioneer Days is only $3.00 per person and will run Saturday, October 11th (10a - 5p) & Sunday, October 12th (9a - 4p). Parade on Saturday at 9am. If you and your family will be attending Pioneer Days, please stop by our booth and say hello.
September 4, 2008 Yesterday, the Florida Supreme Court threw out Amendments 5, 7 and 9, relating to property taxes and school vouchers on the grounds that they were improperly placed on the November ballot and are misleading to voters. Florida PTA did indeed speak up for every child with one voice. For more information on this story, click here.
August 21, 2008 Welcome to a new school year. I have updated our Google Calendar to include all of the PTA meetings and school events for the year. Don't forget to visit the calendar often to keep updated on the events happening at our school.

July 24, 2008 The 2008-2009 school supply lists are now available. Parents are reminded to bring all school supplies to Meet The Teacher night, Friday, August 15th from 4-6pm. See you then!
July 18, 2008 Did you know that more than 40 million low-income, working people in the US cannot afford the cost of routine eye care? I just learned of a program offered by the American Optometric Association that offers free vision examinations to children and adults from low income families. The program is called Vision USA. July 8, 2008 I am thrilled to report that FCAT scores and grades have been released and, once again, Winegard is a Grade A school. Congratulations to all of our students, parents, teachers, and staff.
